Physics forms the intellectual core of physical science. It examines the world through an analytical lens, providing insight into fundamental building blocks of nature, the emergent behavior of the complex system, and the laws which govern the physical world. Physicists use their knowledge and experience to understand the perplexing ways of the universe and the possibilities keep growing. As part of a Bharathidasan University, the Department of Physics was established in the year 2005. The Department is a sprawling academic/research-based unit in the college.

The Department of Physics was established in the year 2005 to disseminate knowledge and cultivate poignant professionals. We behold all the latest facilities and equipment required to ensure that the students can gain comprehensive knowledge and hold experimental learning.

• During the first and second years, the Allied courses offered by the Department of Physics students include Mathematics and Computer Science. By extension, Physics is taught as an allied subject for students in B.Sc. Mathematics, Computer Science and Chemistry.
• The curriculum and the teaching process are focused on developing academically talented, professionally dynamic professionals who have a holistic understanding and are inquisitive enough to be subject matter experts.
• To lay a strong foundation on classical and modern concepts of Physics from Quantum Physics to Mechanical Electrodynamics.
• To provide an interactive learning experience to drive theoretical as well as practical knowledge for students and mold them into impactful professionals.
• To develop strong interpersonal skills which are important to flourish in a competitive, professional environment.
• To encourage them to responsible citizens who contribute to the development of society, countering global issues with practical, real-time solutions.

The earnest efforts of the faculty have paid rich dividends which is evident from the obtained good academic results. Every year, our main focus is on exhibitions, paper presentations, and lectures on current topics in Physics, which expose students to the various research avenues and current trends in the subject, which in turn gears them towards higher education in Physics.
